Day 155: Jubilee Day

on June 3, 2012

Here in the UK we have been celebrating the fact that Elizabeth II has been on the throne for 60 years. This is her Diamond Jubilee. I’m not a right raving royalist. I appreciate what they do for our country, I am also aware that world won’t stop if they are not there.

Why can’t we just bask in the glow that they cast. They are loved in pretty much every country in the world and are (on a whole) fantastic envoys for the UK. Yes, they don’t actually have any bearing on legal/government proceedings but I believe what they bring in is invaluable.

Watching the Thames Flotilla was amazing, no one can do pomp and circumstance quite like the British monarchy.

Today’s Activities: Watching the Jubilee celebrations.
