for the little things that make me happy

Day 1: It Here It’s Finally Here

on January 1, 2012

So after much expectation the brand shiny new year has arrived. What will it bring, and will our resolutions come true?

On a whole, we all have grand ideas at the beginning of the year. Day dreaming of things and the people we want to be, planning the futures on a cloud of maybe and when. The trick is working out just how to make these plans actually happen?

The big picture can be scary to look at. Generally women write a check sheet in their heads of things they want to do and change about themselves. Emotionally and physically.

January is one of the busiest times for diet groups and gyms. The sales of self-help books and fitness DVDs soar.

But going back to the big picture. It can be overwhelming or you can choose to think of it another way. What if you bought a dowdy house? You’d probably want to do it all at the same time. However, that wouldn’t be the most effective route. Room by room would be easier and you would have a decorated room to escape to and look at when the going gets tough.

Break your big picture down like a jigsaw. Take it one little piece at a time. This is why this year I have decided to concentrate on the little things. Finding that twinkle of light and warmth spread by a simple smile.

For me that is the hardest thing. Finding the time to do things just for me. I’m going to enjoy the small things. Drinking a coffee in Starbucks, reading a couple of chapters of a good books, eating chocolate or even watch a favourite programme.

I hope that these little things will leads to bigger things and then change everything…

I love the concept of a jigsaw! Its so true, we want it all to be perfect right away but it just doesnt happen like that! I feel if I havent eaten right or havent exercised then I am a total failure but you have to acknowledge that lie sometimes does get in the way, you will get tired etc. Just gotta keep at it!
